Downhillrun at Sossusflei
Then we want to go deeper into the Namib Desert to Sossusvlei and some more dunes, where a lake is formed in the middle when it rains. Here we will need our four-wheel drive for the first time, because instead of taking a shuttle jeep like the tourists, we prefer to drive
Dune 45
As the day ends, the next one begins, namely with dunes. Today we leave the hotel at at 5:30 am before sunrise and drive to kilometre 45 and to dune 45. This time I am much more relaxed due to the newly learned interpretation of the law.

Namib Naukluft Park
Second stop: The Namib Desert
After the small embarrassment Mirko takes another photo tour at the sand cars. Obviously a couple of broken down vehicles that were not cleared away in the last 50 years. Then we continue south and drive along a very dusty road for quite a while until we arrive at Namib Naukluft Park.
Cheetah up close
The male for example was a problem cheetah and always hunted the cattle on the neighbour’s farm. Instead of shooting him, he was brought here. Two of the females are in here, because a farmer has shot their mother and he didn’t want to shoot the puppies as well. How gracious, this farmer!
Hike through the wilderness
Veronica’s voice wakes me up the next morning and the first thing on my mind is: Great, she has reception, which is really sparse here and can make phone calls.
Unfortunately I am wrong, because she is having an argument with the little bird that doesn’t want to fly out
Starry night in Solitaire
First stop: Solitaire
After 5 hours of driving we reach our destination, the Solitaire Guest Farm, which is located in the middle of nothing. Surrounded by a semicircle of mountains in our back, there is an impressive view of the savannah and our apartment turns out to be a two bedroom mansion
Sausages in Windhoek
Off to Namibia
The destination Namibia is a bit unusual for two hardcore Asia fans, but our friend Veronica made us very curious with her reports from South Africa and so we decided to pack our backpacks and also pack Veronica. So this time it’s three of us on a hopefully exciting road
